Just got back from the ritualistic summer trip to B..C. We indulged by staying at a B&B instead of camping. We also spent just enough time @ Vancouver, Squamish and Whistler with the right balance b/w hiking, shopping, reading and decadent eating. I was a bit taken aback to see the WalMart in Squamish, but it was reassuring to hear that the local people didn’t mind. I started and finished reading The Kite Runner and was amazed at how someone could combine so much relevant fact with such intriguing fiction. For me, the book did live up to its reputation and a lot more. It also helped take my thoughts away from remaining idled on my unwritten spec. As for the half dozen audio books we carried - we to got through half of The Long Tail, which was very interesting but it is official – audio books are like wine to me. 10 minutes into it and I am fighting to keep my eyes open. Not the best plan as the driver’s duty-to-stay-awake companion on the beautiful sea-to-sky highway, especially with the vast amount of road construction for the 2010 Olympics.
It is good to be home. For all the scheming and planning on the way back about what kind of career move would enable my move to Squamish someday, I was very glad and grateful when we pulled into the driveway to my smiling violas and pansies.

May 28, 2007Why blog now?
May 21, 2007I figured its time to make a re-entry into the blogosphere. Why now? I am trying to find yet another outlet for my easily stress induced life. The piano or gym isn’t around when I need it, and I am too old to start nail-biting. Sugar and sodium rich food always helps but is not always available. Besides it causes weight increase and more stress.
So why not spew randomosities at the vast and generous Internet instead? It remains to be seen if I can write anything of interest, but then again, that is not the point.
