The obsession with sunshine and summer continues. The weatherman threatened us with the “last sunny day” of 2007 couple of weeks ago so we hopped out in 80 degree weather to watch sunset on the waterfront. Also managed a few low res self pics on the camera phone. We could hardly see anything due to the glare but had to pixelize the last sunny day of 2007 for posterity. But we ended up with several sunny weekdays and weekends with even one feeble picnic attempt when it got so hot we had to leave hastily and seek shelter in an air conditioned bakery.
Saw a guy in tuxedo who looked like Tom Selleck singing Sunrise Sunset with a full orchestra on tv last week. He was singing it with a lot of classical effect sunri.ii.ii..se suns..e..t.. I was completely surprised as to me the song will always be a performance with my 8 yr old sis and friends in it. My immediate reaction was that the guy was singing it all wrong and murdering a children’s song. It was completely bland with no visible sunrise, sunset effect performed by tots in yellow and orange costumes. There goes one more precious childhood memory. I had no idea adults were supposed to know or perform that song.
All these sunny days are making it hard to focus on Christmas which I was beginning to look forward to. On the plus side, I spent 5 hours in the yard cleaning up some weeds. I also transported some poor houseplants into healthier soil and bigger homes. It was one of those things that was #1 on a to-do list for 3 months. Ever get the feeling that the only way to get something done is to “do it” and yet continue to procrastinate for months. It is an exhilarting feeling to finally finish the task and almost makes it worth the long agony of procrastination. Happy procrastinating..! So long..
